Btk-Crops is a biological insecticide formulated with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki (Btk), a naturally occurring soil bacterium widely used for the control of caterpillar pests in a wide range of crops. When ingested by target larvae, the crystalline proteins (Cry toxins) produced by Btk disrupt the insect’s digestive system, leading to rapid feeding cessation and pest death. This highly specific mode of action targets only lepidopteran larvae, leaving beneficial insects, pollinators, and other non-target organisms unharmed.
